Tech Herfrica Re-Selected to Implement Digital Skills for Entrepreneurs (DSE) Program: Equipping Women Entrepreneurs in Abuja

1.0 Introduction

Tech Herfrica has been re-selected for the third time to implement the Digital Skills for Entrepreneurs (DSE) Program, supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH through its Digital Transformation Center (DTC) Nigeria program. This reaffirms Tech Herfrica’s expertise in delivering high-impact digital training for women-led MSMEs in Abuja. The program aligns with national digital economy goals, equipping women entrepreneurs with skills for business growth, job creation, and digital inclusion.

2.0 Overview of the DSE Program Phases

2.1 Pilot Phase – Cohort 1 (October – December 2024)

Launched on 14 October 2024, the pilot trained 30 women entrepreneurs from diverse sectors through a hybrid (in-person/virtual) model. Participants received stipends, mentorship, and hands-on support, with lessons documented for future scaling.

2.2 Phase 1 – Cohort 2 (April 2025)

Building on the pilot’s success, Cohort 2 (April 1– May 28, 2025) featured:

  • 6-days in-person training covering digital tools (Trello, Canva, Google My Business, Bumpa) and financial management.

  • 7-week virtual coaching with deep dives into digital marketing and business optimization.

Key achievements:

  • Practical impact recorded: One participant received an order after putting out a design she made for her business during the Canva session; others successfully practiced using Quotation Maker, Bumpa, and Google My Business.

  • Peer learning was strengthened through the product showcase and informal exhibitions.

  • Increased Program Reach: A female business owner, Margaret, sister to one of the participants, who was not originally part of the selected 30 women, has shown strong commitment by joining all virtual sessions voluntarily. Motivated by the value of the training, she requested and was granted permission to attend the final onsite session. Her interest highlights the program’s wider impact and relevance beyond the initial cohort.

  • Peer networking and accountability partners boosted engagement.

  • Flexible adjustments (e.g., guest experts, session rescheduling) improved inclusivity.

  • 2 participants recorded sales of over 1 million for the first time in their business.

To finalize the training program, participants presented their individual Digital Transformation Roadmaps detailing their present business level and how they plan to upscale their businesses using technology.

2.3 Upcoming Phase – Cohort 3 (June 2025)

Tech Herfrica will implement Phase 2, refining strategies to further empower women-led MSMEs.

3.0 Expansion Through Mentorship: The MentHer Program

In addition to the DSE Program, Tech Herfrica has been appointed as the Mentorship Organization for the MentHer Program, a three-month follow-up initiative tailored for DSE graduates. This phase pairs participants with seasoned business mentors who will provide personalized guidance to refine their Digital Transformation Roadmaps, adapt strategies to evolving business needs, and implement sustainable growth practices. The program provides:

  • Personalized guidance for implementing Digital Transformation Roadmaps.
  • Structured mentorship with experienced professionals and progress tracking.

4.0 Conclusion

Tech Herfrica’s repeated selection underscores its credibility in driving digital inclusion. With successful cohorts, an upcoming third phase, and mentorship expansion, the organization continues to foster a digitally empowered entrepreneurial ecosystem in Abuja.
